Burglar who stole £100,000 of jewellery from Jose Mourinho's penthouse hotel room jailed

A career criminal who stole more than £100,000 of jewellery from Jose Mourinho’s penthouse hotel suite has been jailed for 31 months.
Jamie Filan, 32, targeted the ex-Chelsea manager’s room while Mourinho was at work and his wife Matilde, 47, and daughter Tita, 16, were out shopping.
The Arsenal fan passed tight security and bagged a huge stash, including a Cartier pendant, Tiffany diamond necklace, Bulgari watch and a ring worth £51,450.
He also took an Apple MacBook Pro, before stuffing the haul into the Mourinhos’ Louis Vuitton case and “coolly” asking the concierge at the five-star Wyndham Grand Hotel to book him a taxi.
Prosecutor Peter Zinner said the family of the Real Madrid boss, 50, were “extremely distressed”.

He told Southwark crown court: “It seems Mrs Mourinho and her daughter left to go shopping in London at 10am.
"The suite was locked but on their return, they discovered a significant amount of personal property was taken.”
He said access to their floor was “difficult” as a swipe card was needed for the lift.
He said the only other way up was a service lift and added: “This wasn’t a lucky burglary, there is a strong inference he was aware Mr Mourinho and his family were staying in the room.”
Filan, of Westminster, was on licence at the time of the £106,000 March 27 raid in South West London after being released from a sentence for burglary.
He was caught two weeks later, after targeting a suite at the posh Four Seasons hotel on Park Lane.
He has 19 convictions for 49 offences, and in 2007 he was jailed for five years for running over and killing a dental nurse.
Filan, who has a young daughter, admitted two counts of burglary and judge John Price told him: ‘‘You had the nerve to talk your way out with the suitcase, getting the concierge to call a taxi.
"That’s a real, professional burglary.”
