Death row Briton Lindsay Sandiford appeals over sentence



The British grandmother on death row in Bali apologised today for trying to import nearly five kilograms of cocaine into the Indonesian holiday island, but said that she deserved to live because she had helped police to arrest a drug syndicate.
Lindsay Sandiford, 56 from Redcar, Teesside, was sentenced to death last month in a surprise decision by Indonesian judges who ignored the prosecutors’ recommendation that she serve 15 years for trafficking 4.8kg of the drug with a street value £1.6 million
